My Rebutals!

1. Vent out concerns and issues

Yes, all conversations may not be a considered as a long, striking speech and can’t be label as a form of a debate, but simply a plain communication between two sides with various “points” to be imparted. However, if we look back on the purpose of debating, the basis to win a duel is not only how long and marvelous you’ve constructed a speech, but also the points that where included within the speech delivery. Just like in simple conversation. Irrelevant or less points are considered a weak speech.

2. Develop communicating skills

Not all individuals are gifted with tongues the can easily verbalized words, and minds that can store various profound words that are not usually use in conversations. Debating may help some to improve their communicating skills. But how about those who were deprived from education and can’t easily catch up when it comes to English debate? Can this be a help to improve?, or just a huge pain in the head trying to comprehend those sophisticated words.

3. Elaborate ideas on certain issues or concerns.

Yes, not all can elaborate their concerns and views that clearly. But there are ways to help a speaker imparts his views and points more clearly and precise. First, Read in advance, second, understand what you’ve read and form a strategic speech, and third practice, practice and more practice. This can really help a lot.

4. Enhance socialization skills.

I strongly disagree. In some cases, debating may not end up in enhancing socialization skills, but in the other, it can foster rivalries among groups especially in debate tournaments.

5. Enhance word articulation skills.

Like what I’ve just stated at reason #2. There are some unfortunate individuals who can’t converse words easily and clearly due to deficit of knowledge when it comes to English language. In the end, the words are not delivered the way it should be, aside from that; it is an embarrassment in their part.

6. Prove the ability to converse.

Yes, debating can end up boosting your ability to converse; however, actions are more clearly seen than words. Most debaters only talk and talk, arguing a certain motion, proving one side that their arguments are more intriguing with their PIOs. But at the round, not a single argument was implemented. It is better to show it through actions rather than in words.

7. Relieve stage fright.

Debating can really help in eradicating stage frights. But can this really be that effective when some individuals are forced to debate for the sake just to pass a subject?

Seven Reasons why People Debate

What in the world is debate, is it just a formal form of arguing? Why do people find debate interesting and intriguing?

here are some of the reasons why people argue...i mean debate!!!

1. Vent out concerns and issues.

People sometimes find ways to declare their minds by using their ability to communicate with other people by talking. Now, this could be complicating since any conversation can be considered a debate. Lets first consider the main condition for a debate, which is, a speech contest between two opposing team. So, with that in mind not all conversations are considered as debate.

2. Develop communicating skills.

For some people talking can be task, especially when it involves elaborating certain issues. Hence, it is good to practice your communicating skills by debating from time to time.

3. Elaborate ideas on certain issues or concerns.

Of course anyone can talk about their concerns and issues, but, not all can completely elaborate their views when they talk. They find it hard to point out their main concerns since they lack the skills of elaborating their ideas or what they want to say.

4. Enhance socialization skills.

It is hard to communicate to people when you lack the ability to socialize. Talking is the act of socializing and interacting which is further enhanced when people debate. So, it is also beneficial for people to debate as it aids with socialization skills.

5. Enhance word articulation skills.

Debate contestants calls for strong word articulation skills. Each word spoken needs to be articulated in a manner that is fast, concise and understandable. It has to be effective in order for the audience to understand the words spoken and the views or perspectives being relayed by the debate's.

6. Prove the ability to converse.

This is merely a reason to boast out your abilities or skills during competition but, to that extent you are proving a point when you debate and end victorious. It just states that you are much better in your debate skills than the other person.

7. Relieve stage fright.

Most people have topophobia, which is stage fright. It can be hard at times to voice out your concerns or issues when you lack the ability to confront your stage fright. Debate not only enhance your skills in talking to people but also helps you overcome stage fright.
